The Miller-Urey experiment

Recall the prebiotic conditions on the early Earth (which I remind you of with this cartoon):

The kinds of conditions in Miller's experimental apparatus could be very similar to the environment on the prebiotic Earth ... maybe.

And as we will see, amino acids are a crucial piece of molecular biology.

This is all very suggestive.
