The Fermi Paradox

There are lots of arguments -- mostly reminiscent of science fiction -- about why any advanced civilization in the galaxy that is colonizing would go through an amazing exponential growth.

This is because each star colonizes its local stars, which in turn colonize their local stars, etc.

This furthers the Fermi paradox argument: if there had been an advanced civilization, it seems very likely that it such colonization would have included our part of the galaxy.
