The Fermi Paradox

So how do we resolve the Fermi Paradox?

A couple of possibilities.

(1) We are alone. There are no galactic civilizations out there because there are none out there. We are the first "advanced" civilization.

(2) Civilizations are common, but there is no colonizing. Why?

  • Technological difficulties.
  • Sociological considerations (they choose not to colonize).
  • Self-destruction.

    (3) There are colonizing civilizations that have chosen to leave us alone.
