The Miller-Urey experiment

Now we can talk about the Miller-Urey experiment.

In 1953, Stanley Miller (then a graduate student) and Harold Urey (subsequently a Nobel Prize winner) performed an experiment in which they cooked methane (CH4), ammonia (NH3), and water (H2O) in a closed system with an electric spark.

They found that amino acids were produced in just one week!
