region of Mars very early on in
order to have some
ammunition against the face-ists
and conspiracy theorists.
Comparing Viking and MGS shows this (the
right image has the contrast reversed
to simulate how it would look to Viking):
Pretty convincing to me -- this is a funny-shaped
hill that, under certain lighting, could look like
a face.
