Radioactivity
Radioactivity is interesting for a lot of reasons:
Carbon-14 dating of (dead) life
forms, archeology, and stuff like
that (C14 decays to N14; half-life = 5730 years)
Heating in the early Solar System (26Al; half-life = 720,000 years)
Medical uses: diagnoses, CT/CAT scan,
MRI, ultrasound, therapy.
Energy production (fission!) on Earth today:

Where are the nuclear power plants
nearby?
More information about
maps of nuclear reactors
from, amusingly enough,
www.nukepills.com.
