Other evidence has accumulated throughout the last 20 years. Iridium spikes have been located throughout the world at ages of 65 million years.

The International Continental Drilling Program (or the Chicxulub Scientific Drilling Program) has begun work in the Yucatan. This is a project that will obtain samples directly from the buried crater, including the rocks which were shattered and/or melted in the impact.
