Mars Phoenix was a spacecraft that landed near
the north polar region of Mars. It did a lot
of digging around to measure soil properties
(and look for ice).
They found ice (which we already knew was there).... The
jury is still out on what other important scientific
findings Mars Phoenix contributed.
