Why water?
Water helps in the greenhouse effect. We will
talk about the greenhouse effect next time.
Also:
Water is a universal solvent, which means that
molecules tend to dissovle well in water. This is
good for biomolecules being transported inside
organisms.
Water also has a high dielectric constant,
which means that it tends to ionize. This
has the result that water -- and water inside
organisms -- can be electrically charged, which
speeds up chemical reactions.
Also, H and O are fairly common elements.
