Electromagnetic radiation, light, and the spectrum

Imagine that light travels as a wave through space.

The wavelength of light is simply the distance between two consecutive peaks of the traveling wave.

Another way that people sometimes think about light is as individual "particles" called photons. We're not going to worry about that in this course.
