Cells, prokaryotes, eukaryotes

There are only two organelles that really matter for our purposes.

One is the mitochondrion (plural: mitochondria). This is the internal combustion engine of a cell -- where fuel (carbohydrates, sugars) is turned into energy.

The other is the nucleus, where genetic storage and reproduction takes place by using DNA and RNA.
